Eligibility Criteria
The competition is being conducted for two age groups.
(only Indian residents can apply)

Performance Guidelines
Stage 1: Online Application

All participants have to firstly register for YSS with correct details. Read More

After registration, application can be submitted for online round. Read More

Application by each participant can be submitted only once.

Only Hindustani Classical vocal performances in the form of Khayal shall be accepted.

Any other form of performance except Khayal shall not be accepted.

Carnatic Classical music performances shall not be acceptable.

Natya Sangeet, Semi Classical music, Bollywood inspired music shall not be acceptable.

Vocal performance should be accompanied with Tabla and Tanpura. Online applications can be used for tabla and tanpura in case participant does not have an accompanist. Performance along with an accompanist is encouraged.

Performance with Harmonium shall not be accepted.

Performance piece should be minimum 10 minutes long and maximum 15 minutes long.

Any piece not falling within the range of 10 - 15 minutes i.e,shorter than 10 minutes and longer than 15 minutes shall not be evaluated.
Performance Guidelines
Stage 2: Online Audition

The online audition will be conducted via Zoom in real time.

A demo run will be held to familiarize participants with the setup.

Only Hindustani Classical vocal performances in the form of Khayal will be accepted.

Participants must perform both Vilambit Khayal and Drut Khayal.

The judgment will be based on Sur, Taal, Raag, Bhaav, and Presentation.

No other forms of performance (e.g., Carnatic Classical, Natya Sangeet, Semi-Classical, or Bollywood) will be accepted.

Vocal performances must be accompanied by Tabla and Tanpura.

Participants may use online applications for Tabla and Tanpura if they do not have an accompanist, but performances with a live accompanist are encouraged.

Performances with Harmonium will not be accepted.

The performance piece must be between 10 to 15 minutes long.

Pieces shorter than 10 minutes or longer than 15 minutes will not be evaluated.

Participants must log in at their designated times to ensure a smooth flow of the event.

Participants will be placed in a breakout room until it’s their turn. Please be patient as we bring you into the main meeting one by one.
Performance Guidelines
Stage 3: Live Performance

Live Performance to be held at Nehru Centre Auditorium, Mumbai. Shortlisted participants of Stage 2 to be present in Mumbai for stage 3.

Only Hindustani Classical vocal performance in the form of Khayal shall be accepted.

Participants must perform both Vilambit Khayal and Drut Khayal.

Participants are welcome to include a Tarana in their performance if they wish, provided that the total duration of the performance does not exceed the allotted time limit.

Vocal performances must be accompanied by Tabla, Tanpura and Harmonium
-
Participants may also choose to incorporate the Sur Mandal in their performance, in addition to other instruments.

The performance piece must be 15 minutes long.

Pieces shorter than 15 minutes will not be evaluated.

Participants are not allowed to repeat any Raag that they have performed in previous rounds of the competition. Please select a different Raag for your final performance to ensure variety.

Tabla and harmonium accompanists will be provided at the venue.

Participants also have the option to bring their own accompanists if they prefer. Please inform the organizers through mail in advance if you choose to bring your own accompanist

Participants must refrain from mentioning their gurus' names during the competition to ensure fairness and impartiality.

Participants from both groups are required to arrive at the venue on time to ensure a smooth schedule. Please be punctual.
