Yuva Sur Sartaj 2024 – Celebrating Emerging Talent in Hindustani Classical Music

Dedhia Music Foundation (DMF), a non-profit devoted to preserving and promoting Hindustani Classical Music, proudly announced the winners of Yuva Sur Sartaj 2024, a prestigious competition for emerging vocalists, at a grand finale held at Nehru Centre Auditorium, Worli, Mumbai.
After a three-month journey of auditions across India, ten finalists took the stage, performing in front of an esteemed judging panel of musical stalwarts: Pt. Sanjeev Abhyankar, Vidushi Kaushiki Chakraborty, and Mr. Rahul Deshpande. Their expert insights were instrumental in identifying the most promising young vocalists in two age groups—Group 1 (15-22) and Group 2 (23-30).
The winners included Bhakti Pawar from Group 1 and Yogita Raikar from Group 2, each awarded ₹1,50,000 plus mentorship funding to support their growth in Hindustani classical music. Group 1’s 1st Runner-Up, Anjali Gaikwad, and Group 2’s 1st Runner-Up, Hiranmayee S, received ₹1,00,000 each, while the 2nd Runners-Up, Nandini Gaikwad and Jayashree Patil, received ₹50,000 each.
Commenting on the talent showcased, Kaushiki Chakraborty noted, “The dedication and passion for Hindustani classical music are a testament to the enduring power of our traditional art forms.” Rahul Deshpande and Pt. Abhyankar echoed these sentiments, expressing optimism for the future of Indian classical music.
Aatish Dedhia, CEO of Zycus and founder of DMF, described the event as “more than a competition—a celebration of India’s musical heritage,” highlighting DMF’s goal to nurture the next generation of classical music leaders. For those unable to attend, the event was streamed live on DMF’s social media, bringing this celebration of India’s musical legacy to a wider audience.

From Jalna, Bhakti Pawar is a rising talent in Hindustani classical music. A gold medalist in B.A. Music from SNDT University, she is now pursuing her M.A. in Music at Bharti University, Pune.

Bhakti’s talent shone through as she performed at Yuva Sur Sartaj 2024. Her dedication to Hindustani Classical Music is truly commendable.

Anjali Gaikwad

At just 18 years old, Anjali Gaikwad is a gifted vocalist currently pursuing her B.A. in Music at Bharti Vidyapeeth, Pune.

As the 1st Runner-Up of Yuva Sur Sartaj 2024, Anjali continues to enchant audiences with her versatile talent and dedication to Hindustani classical music.

Nandini Gaikwad

At 20 years old, Nandini Gaikwad is a promising vocalist currently pursuing her B.A. in Music at Bharti Vidyapeeth, Pune.

As the 2nd Runner-Up of Yuva Sur Sartaj 2024, Nandini’s exceptional talent and passion for Hindustani classical music continue to shine.

Group 2 Winners

Yogita Raikar

Yogita Raikar
Winner

Hailing from Kudal, Sindhudurg, Yogita Raikar holds a Master’s degree (M.P.A.) in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, where she also topped the M.A. Music exam.

Yogita’s exceptional performance at Yuva Sur Sartaj 2024 was praised by judges and audiences alike, highlighting her depth of expression and technical brilliance

Hiranmayee S
1st Runner Up

Born and raised in Bangalore, Hiranmayee is a gifted vocalist who holds a B.Com degree and an M.A. in Music from Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune.

Hiranmayee's stellar performance at Yuva Sur Sartaj 2024 impressed the judges with her refined technique and soulful artistry, securing her the 1st Runner-Up position in Group 2. Her dedication to preserving and evolving the art form is reflected in every performance.

Jayashree Patil
2st Runner Up

Jayashree Patil is an accomplished Hindustani classical vocalist who holds a Master's in Music from Mumbai University and a Bachelor's in Music and Commerce from Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University.

Jayashree’s exceptional performance at Yuva Sur Sartaj 2024 showcased her mastery over Khayal, earning her the 2nd Runner-Up title in Group 2. Her dedication to her craft continues to inspire her journey as an artist.
